breaking up double play is not worth break up athlete's life.
Bicycle Crossroads
I guess if the player injured is Asian, it's considered a "Good Hard Slide"... but if it's a Mets Player who is injured, and the baserunner is named "Utley" he is suspended for two playoff games and the slide is considered "dirty".
Kevin James
i don't even know how i got here, but gotta say that it was an obvious dirty play. Just look how far Kang's left leg was from the bag. It is just ONE total bullshit play by Coghlan.
Ambrose Sone
kang was very far away from the base, it is no way to slide to his left leg like this, not even the right leg which is nearer to the base. And please tell me what kind of slide is gonna aim at others' tibia. It is an unforgivable murdering slide.
Danny L
Cheol Park
Aiming for kang' knee rather than base. Dirty play
The TechieGames
Pause at 0:07 The prick was clearly aiming for his leg! -_-
Coughlin is not sliding into the base. He's sliding a yard to the right of the base. Just like Utley, he's trying to injure the fielder, not get to the bag. The only differences are that Kang is Asian, and the Pirates are not a major market team.
Just met Kang. He's a really great guy. Ran into him in Florida. He is a great guy.
Billy Large
Kang is my favorite player
He come back. His revenge start. He just use his talent. He is the one who play well. So I see this video, I am sad for his losing time. I think it might be one of a play. But I Think it is not play. Today Tex and Tor, there are big fight.
luis Cottom
Hmm i wonder if this runner got suspended too. Did he? And also kang's leg was actually broken
You can see all the hypocrisy/double standard here after the Utley decision, Kang deserves better. I mean if you look at the clip you can see clearly, Coglan's slide is at least 3 feet off the bag, and in particular his right foot which banged into Kang is about 6 feet off.
Aiming for the shortstop rather than the second base bag
I get playing hard and sliding hard trying to break up double plays etc but look how far Kang is from the bag. There's a difference between breaking up the play and straight up taking out somebody. That was as dirty of a slide as I've seen since Utley.
wtf, the pirates need to get revenge and take out kris bryant
I think that's a dirty play. It seems to be on purpose.
Carlota Ornelas
That cubs player was a jerk.
Zach Moore
That slide is completely legal. If the baserunner is able to touch the back with no struggle, then it's legal. I will admit it wasn't pretty. But it was legal.
aehzsdfg sfadsf
What a awful play, it is definitely not an accident .Chris Coghlan, you dare call yourself a sportsman? you have to pay for what you have done, just aim at his head on the next pitch.
Dean Scott
The UTLEY play on tejada is the same exact play!! But yet UTLEY got suspended?? Mlb is a joke! Same exact play!!
Grant Lee
Unnecessary, although condoned! The system or Karma will weed him out.
Luis Zuñiga
que marrana barrida, ojete ese corredor
Cadi Levox
I doubt that's even unintentional.. because if it was, he would have been kicked lower than this. If he was to disrupt him, that's fine and it's natural.. but his slide was closer to Kang than to the second? There's something more to this than just stopping a double play
Jeff Kim
If he wasnt injured that season easily 25hr 80 rbi player. Easyy sad to c him go down that yr
Cordazoan I
3 seasons later, you could make the argument this was a career ending play
I don't know how anyone can say this is dirty. This is a standard slide to break up a double play that happens on EVERY double play opportunity. Difference between this and the others is that Kang didn't jump to avoid the slide like you are taught. He just stood there. Just like the announcer said, "I don't think that was a dirty play. You try to break up double plays." It's not like he ran completely out of the base path and slide 10 feet to the right of the base to get him. Actually, for breaking up a double play he didn't really have to slide to far to the right to break this one up. Just horrible positioning by Kang IMO. I guess this is why PIT thinks he is better suited for 3B and not SS.
Keith Froehlich
This slide and Maddon's comments were what Arroidetta beaned in the wild card game.
Darrin H.
i grew up in the 60's its part of baseball and always will be
Wow! *"A take-out slide -- he went after Jung ho* and Jung ho got rolled over." The announcers saw it for what it was from the beginning, but MLB didn't like that script and called it just an accident that Coghlan held his top leg up unnaturally high during the slide. The announcer's description would have disappeared if it weren't recorded here. Youtube lives!
Gallant C
Coghlan is insane, not human being
Nicholas Schleeper
Why utley
David Shim
this kind of slides are banned ever since Chase Utley broke Ruben leg game one or two of the 15 NLDS
I think what happened was the runner tried to slide and his leg went up into kangs leg and injured kang ( but that was a nasty slide by the cubs runner)
Andrew Lin
To me when you put your leg up late for my legs, thats dirty. There was no way he could have jumped over your leg goes after the the top of the shine.
That tackle was legal yeah whatever. But did he really have to tackle that way when he had no chance of getting safe also he had plenty of space to not slide over kang jungho's knee. Yeah that was legal and aggressive. But why! same fucking tackle that happened to Not-Asian athelet got too much of shame and even got suspended?? I wanna know that. Whoever say that was legal, but it was intended and it was dirty. No one can't deny that fact even it was legal.
jung ho kang made a good throw getting hurt like that
Ant Keene
They need to stop putting so many ads
John Elder
Kang stepped out of the way of the Base path it was obviusly intentional
Alina Sellinger
Ben Middleton
this also happened to the same guy that allegedly raped somebody in Chicago
Ben Shin
Hmmm.... Utley got suspended doing the same thing, while Fowler was fine. I swear, people are calling it a "hard slide" just cause it was an Asian who was torn.
You're leg isn't suposed to bend that way. That was one of the most painful take out slides I've ever seen.
what a joke of a slide. just went into his front leg with all of his force.
Damon watt
This isn't even a slide, he just flings himself at Kang.
Alec Morales
that wasn't coghlans fault he was in the way
Blake Durham
No one remembers this because of Chase Utley.
the thing is he's done that to Iwamura as well.
유투브는 번역기없나요 ㅜ
kyoung bog ahn
not good~!
He came back from this injury, but he's having a bad year at the plate.
rast nin
Take out slide is a legal in America
볼 때마다 안타까운 장면.
Michael Gonzalez
chris coghlan is my favorite player for this
A few years later, I wonder if people still feel sorry for this drunken buffoon? Still to this day the slide wasn't dirty. Glad the dirty Pirates have blown up the team. Even more, it was the Cubs who ended the Pirates good run with that win in the 2015 Wild Card game. Back to the basement you go!
Chester Copperpot
All I see is an injured rapist with bush league skills.
Coghlan is such a disgusting rat. Obviously the cubs broadcast in the video.
