This song takes me back to being a geeky 16 year old 90s kid, spending long summers singing with guitars around fires with good friends, beers in our hands and life stretching out forever in front of us. Billy made those nights immortal <3

I am a 65-year-old African American male, when this song came out in 1996 I was 43 years old. I like all kinds of music and this song was incredible! The video was mesmerizing. Billy's voice pierced through all the noise - I bought this double album and it (along with Tupac's "All Eyez On Me") dominated my psyche for the next year at least. What a rush to spontaneously pull this up while working on a project. A time machine, music is.

I was dating a girl when this song came out. I could picture myself growing old with her and going on adventures like this. She became my wife. Last fall, we went to Napa Valley to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. One activity we had planned was a Hot Air Balloon ride. It made me think of this video. Driving from the airport to our hotel, we heard this song on the radio. It literally gave me chills! How often do you hear this on the radio anywhere anymore?

This song is true melancholy... it completely captures and embraces the anxiety and insecurity that comes when you realize tonight is one of the big moments you'll remember forever as your youth, and that it all happened in one short night... Man it sucks the universe cursed us with such short days, nights, and lives, but I'm so thankful for the few beautiful people out there who feel the same nostalgia and butterflies in their stomach when they hear a song such as this.
Milk Carton
how many nights of 1996 spent listening to this crying my soul out wanting to believe that life could change that i was not stuck in vain, afraid my brother was gonna kill himself as he entered his first depression, my parents too stuck in the drama of their separation to care, dropped out of college and stuck in my little hometown without any friends left as they had all left for the city, living the first year of my anxiety disorder, months of insomnia. Probably this album saved me from killing myself and this song especially.

Remember this been played on MTV all the time. When MTV was good of course.

I'M 60 years old and Smashing Pumpkins make me think of about my youth and how relevant they are to to this day, as long as you can love good music you will always be forever young.

Time is never time at all You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth And our lives are forever changed We will never be the same The more you change the less you feel Believe, believe in me, believe That life can change, that you're not stuck in vain We're not the same, we're different tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight And you know you're never sure But you're sure you could be right If you held yourself up to the light And the embers never fade in your city by the lake The place where you were born Believe, believe in me, believe In the resolute urgency of now And if you believe there's not a chance tonight Tonight, so bright tonight We'll crucify the insincere tonight We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight We'll find a way to offer up the night tonight The indescribable moments of your life tonight The impossible is possible tonight Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight

My friends hate me because I keep yelling "TIME IS NEVER TIME AT ALL!" and "I USED TO BE A LITTLE BOY"
Richard Sabsay
Pure genies...i remember the first time I heard this. I was in a recording studio in Toronto Canada thinking I was so clever and artistic. My bass player brought the CD in and played this song. We had genelux speakers in the studio...need I say more. I was awestruck dumbfounded overwhelmed. I remember thinking I should just smash my guitar right now because I will never write anything as good as that. The level of production was beyond anything I had ever heard. Reminiscent of The Moody Blues but so completely unique. Melancholy was like the Sergeant Pepper of the grunge era and this video was visually spectacular. I freaking love this meticulous attention to Artistic integrity

The perfect mix between rock and classical music. Definitely one of the best songs ever made if is not the best.

Smashing Pumpkins played to the largest attended concert ever in Minnesota History, and it was a free concert in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota on Block "E". Former Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton Got up on the stage to introduce the band and Billy Corgan thought that was pretty cool saying you've got a pretty cool mayor here. He said it was the first time any mayor had ever got up on the stage with the band . It was for the Mineapolis Aquatenial There was like 150,000 fans at that killer show, and Tonight, Tonight was epic! It was July 17. 1998

Blue haired girl with tatts and a knee brace, who sat next to me at the SP show two days ago. I really wanted to talk to you more, but didn't see an opening. Comment if you see this and remember me, I sat next to you on row 115 and we shared few words. comment and we can figure out how to contact one another.

excellent, fantastic dreamlike homage to George Mélies, in the purest style of the smashing pumpkins, an adventure beyond the imagination.

The lyrics translated into different languages and then back to English. Time is never a time for anything You can not go without leaving your youth Our lives have changed forever It will not be the same The more you change, the less you feel Believe me, I believe you, believe me Life can change, you do not go in vain We are not the same, tonight we are different Tonight, very bright, t onight You know you're not sure But you're certainly right If the light is on The barbecue never disappears in your city near the lake The place where you were born Believe me, I believe you believe me Decisive urgency now And if you do not think there's a chance tonight Tonight, tonight is very bright To break uncertainty tonight We'll do a good job, we feel tonight We'll find a way to make it tonight Unstoppable moments in your life tonight It's already impossible Believe me because I believe in you tonight

1990s was the bomb actually, the VERY LAST generation before technology kicked in. People would go to concerts and not check in on facebook/instagram/twitter, they would just go and have a great time.

HAY GUYZ! I just got a crazy idea. What if Mtv fired all the political extremist weirdos and played music videos again. Wouldn't that be crazy!?!

I think this might have my favourite intro ever. The opening 45 seconds are just perfection. The remainder of the song is totally brilliant too, but that opening 45 is just incredible.

Knights of Malta song - hey Smashing Pumpkins I just wanted to let you know that song is beautiful. As is this one and all of them. I forgot you and I’m sorry. You’re my generation of music and I’m glad I randomly woke up thinking of you this morning, sweet beautiful intricately woven Smashing Pumpkins. Much love.

Another creepy tribute to George Mellies like Hugo. Billy Corrigan didn't come up with this, his illuminati masters did, trust me.

It's 2019. I've never listened to any Smashing Pumpkins or seen any of their videos till now but this is single-handedly one of the best videos I've literally ever seen. And I grew up online... The editing, color, style – everything is so unlike everything we have now. I'm hooked!

It may be only me but Billy Corgan's face looks sort of similar to former My Chemical Romance's frontman Gerard Way. Besides, Gerard Way and MCR was greatly influenced by The Smashing Pumpkins anyway!
