At 1:09:40 -"You know what's going to happen in the year 2018?" The year I first saw this movie :)

Cliff Roberston totally deserved an oscar for this performance, Charly was so innocent and sweet I hated the factory workers making fun of him! That's just mean.
I feel that the interpretation of the story through writing based on Charly's journal entries (otherwise known as Flowers for Algernon) better shows both the improvement of his intellectual abilities and the stagnation, or decline, of his abilities. The story in which Charly is writing entries shows differences throughout with spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, etc. That being said the film version of this story tells it very well, but I just think the original short story depicts what Charly is feeling in many parts. If this film were to be remade, assuming the remake wouldn't be terrible, I would think it would surely be a favorite to many.

Loved, loved, loved this movie when I was around 13. My mom introduced it to us. We cried at that age for Charly because we sensed the injustice of his having been given the gift of seeing life for what it was, only to have it taken away forever. Did we think about how cruel the doctors were? Probably not, just about how unfair it was. Watching this again 40 years later, is a totally different experience; particularly now watching it with my 13 year old!

our assignment in class is to write a sequel to this movie. Mine goes something like this: Charlie is in (Insert Country Here) and does not know where he is (amnesia), but is taken in by a teacher who teaches him to learn without the artificial intelligence Fast forward thru that part of the story and charlie is now very smart but still not as smart as before He decides to go back to New York and find Algernon’s grave. He sees Mrs. Kinnian was the one putting flowers on Algernon’s grave! Everything from the lab comes back, and he remembers how dumb he was and how he rejected mrs kinnian. In my last paragraph, instead of his writing, its a police report detailing his death/suicide. Dark, I know, but it’ll be a great sequel once i finish!

This entire story is so sad
Apologetic Fiction Fire
I think a fitting sequel to this movie years later his intelligence slowly returns but no matter what he said or try to do people still treat him as retarded. He dies and autopsy reveal the answer.

I love this movie 😄
So I guess after she called him stupid, he went on a bender with motorcycles, women and drugs and kinda sowed his wild oats and then gave it all up? Is that what we are to infer?
The movie mentioned 2018, when I first saw this movie in class after reading the story in the book

Thanks for uploading this. I read the book 14 years ago when I was 13, and never saw this, though I’ve heard it mentioned on a couple podcasts I listen to. I’ve been meaning to watch this.

Always loved it... but: Claire Bloom should have anticipated an awkward attempted at affection before it happened. She need not humiliate him so.
